Regional Programme Specialist – Climate Displacement

About the role

The Regional Programme Specialist will lead the strategic and technical coordination of the RE2CLID programme, supporting climate‑related displacement responses across sub‑Saharan Africa. Reporting to the Regional Deputy Director for Operations, the role ensures coherent, evidence‑based activities at regional level.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the Regional Support Team and multi‑country actions within the RE2CLID programme.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the European Commission and other institutional partners.
• Develop and implement area‑based and localisation strategies to strengthen systems that prevent and address displacement.
• Oversee governance and natural resource management interventions to promote sustainable livelihoods for displaced and host communities.
• Facilitate the delivery of climate‑resilient durable solutions and promote social cohesion in affected populations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in international development, environmental sciences, disaster management or related field with at least seven years of relevant experience, or a university degree with nine years of experience.
• Extensive programme management experience on multi‑country or regional disaster preparedness, response, displacement management and durable solutions.
• Operational experience in contexts affected by displacement due to crises, including disasters and conflict.
• Proven ability to develop and implement localisation strategies and supervise multicultural teams.
