Social & Behaviour Change Education Editor (Remote, Nairobi)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced consultant to develop an Investment Case and a Compendium of best practices for Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) in education. The work will involve desk reviews, stakeholder interviews, and the production of two concise, evidence‑based documents to support programme design, fundraising and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a desk review of academic and grey literature on SBC in education over the past ten years.
• Summarise evaluation results and identify at least 30 best‑practice examples from 20 UNICEF Country Offices.
• Write and edit a 4‑6 page Investment Case covering vision, challenges, UNICEF response, results and investment opportunities.
• Produce a Compendium of best practices organised around eight thematic pillars, including visual proposals.
• Deliver all outputs by the agreed deadlines (13 Nov, 27 Nov, 10 Dec).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social and Behavioural Science, Education, Communication or Journalism.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in research, desk reviews and editing of policy‑oriented documents.
• Fluent in English and French; knowledge of Portuguese is desirable.
• Demonstrated understanding of UNICEF’s SBC Programme Guide and editorial standards.
