Structural Engineer

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Structural Engineer in Mlolongo for its manufacturing business. The engineer designs, analyses and supervises civil and structural works in the manufacturing plant and related projects, ensuring structural integrity, safety and efficiency in factory buildings, warehouses and supporting infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design structural systems for industrial buildings and warehouses, including steel structures, reinforced concrete and roofing supports, and prepare detailed drawings, calculations and specifications.
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D BIM models, reinforcement detailing and steel connection drawings, following CAD/BIM standards and international codes.
• Take part in planning and executing construction and expansion projects, preparing tender documents, bills of quantities and cost estimates, and monitoring timelines, budgets and resources.
• Oversee construction work, inspect sites, guide contractors and ensure quality control and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP teams and contractors, perform clash detection with BIM tools, and help prepare as-built drawings.
• Assess existing facilities, recommend improvements, support maintenance of factory infrastructure and roofing, and give technical input on product development.
• Prepare project progress reports, supervise junior engineers, technicians and drafters, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, building codes and data protection rules.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) as a Graduate/Professional Engineer.
• Knowledge of structural design principles, construction methods and material properties.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (Structure) and Navisworks.
• Understanding of BIM processes and engineering standards.
