Supervisory Wage and Hour Specialist

About the role

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division is seeking a Supervisory Wage and Hour Specialist to lead a team in enforcing federal labor standards. This senior position involves overseeing investigations, guiding policy development, and representing the division in high‑level discussions with labor and management stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Make decisions on work problems, select personnel for subordinate positions, and approve disciplinary actions.
• Assess staff performance against program requirements and develop corrective recommendations.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve major compliance issues, recommending changes to policies or requirements.
• Maintain and issue fact sheets, training materials, the Field Operations Handbook, and related guidance documents.
• Represent WHD in conferences with major labor, management, and government officials on contract‑related matters.
• Ensure enforcement policies and procedures are legally sound.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, at least 16 years old, able to obtain required security clearance.
• 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS‑14 level or equivalent.
• Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) satisfied.
• Must meet supervisory financial disclosure and probationary requirements.
