Team Leader, Trade Operations

About the role

The Team Leader, Trade Operations, will oversee the execution of both standard and bespoke trade finance transactions, ensuring strict compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and international standards. The role combines operational excellence with high‑quality client service while leading a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end processing of trade finance products such as letters of credit, collections, guarantees, standby credits and supply‑chain finance.
• Ensure adherence to ICC rules (UCP 600, ISBP, URC, URDG) and AML/CFT, sanctions and other regulatory standards.
• Identify, assess and escalate operational, compliance and credit risks promptly.
• Act as primary liaison between clients, internal stakeholders and external counterparties to safeguard the bank’s reputation and enable seamless trade flows.
• Lead, coach and develop the trade operations team to achieve efficiency and accuracy targets.
• Drive project initiatives, including trade finance platform implementations and digital transformation efforts.

Required profile

• First‑degree university qualification.
• Professional certification such as CDCS, CSDG, CITR or equivalent; AML/CFT or risk‑management certifications are a plus.
• 3‑4 years of banking experience, with at least three years in trade operations.
• Proven track record in structuring and processing trade finance transactions.
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of Letters of Credit, Collections, Guarantees, Standby Credits, Supply‑Chain Finance.
• Working knowledge of ICC rules: UCP 600, ISBP, URC, URDG.
• Risk identification, escalation and mitigation in trade operations.
• AML/CFT compliance, sanctions screening and trade‑regulation familiarity.
• Transaction processing, review, reconciliation and documentation management.
• Project leadership for trade finance platforms and digital transformation.
• Trend analysis and reporting.
