Account Manager – Plastics Additives Sales, Nairobi

About the role

A leading global producer of essential minerals and worldwide distributor of specialty materials is recruiting an Account Manager in Nairobi, Kenya, through Summit Recruitment & Search. The role manages customer relationships across East Africa, specific product lines or market segments, working with existing and prospective customers and the sales team, while achieving sales targets and ensuring profitable, sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Execute sales strategies and plans for assigned territories and market segments, including account management, pricing, sales forecasting, budgeting and visit planning.
• Identify, develop and grow new business opportunities and market applications in line with the company's marketing strategy.
• Build and maintain customer relationships through regular visits, key account management, complaint resolution and customer support.
• Analyse the market and report on trends, customer activity, opportunities and sales performance.
• Lead customer negotiations and provide technical assistance to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the local sales team and management on strategy and support product development with market feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Science, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years' experience in specialty chemicals or additives sales within the plastics industry.
• Proven experience selling additives and raw materials for plastics manufacturing, such as fillers, stabilizers, resins, compounds, masterbatches or performance chemicals.
• Strong understanding of plastics manufacturing processes and applications.
• Demonstrated ability to manage key accounts, develop new business and meet sales targets.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills, with willingness to travel across East Africa.
