Adjunct Scientist – Dryland Crops Improvement (Part‑time)

About the role
The CIMMYT Dryland Crops Program invites early‑ or mid‑career NARS scientists from focus countries to join a research team working on sorghum, pearl millet, finger millet, groundnut or pigeon pea improvement in West or Eastern Africa on an adjunct basis.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the implementation of CIMMYT research activities under the leadership of the host CIMMYT scientist.
- Engage the host CIMMYT scientist in relevant activities within the scientist's institutional research program.
- Develop joint research proposals and participate in scientific publications and dissemination of findings.
- Participate in strategic meetings, exchange visits, field activities, workshops and scientific conferences, subject to funding availability.
- Prepare technical reports and an exit report documenting achievements and lessons learned.
Required profile
- Active full‑time employee of a National Agricultural Research Institution in a target country.
- Institutional endorsement and support from the employer.
- PhD awarded within the last 10 years with an active research program, or MSc with 5‑10 years of demonstrated leadership in agricultural research.
- Strong scientific potential, commitment to collaborative research and good written and spoken English.

- Monthly gross allowance of USD 1,000 to supplement the scientist's institutional salary.
