Assistant Manager, Trade Finance

About the role

DIB Bank Kenya, a subsidiary of Dubai Islamic Bank, is recruiting an Assistant Manager, Trade Finance in Nairobi. The role supports Relationship and Branch Managers in tailoring Trade Finance solutions for individuals and SMEs, growing the Trade Finance portfolio and processing export documents such as documentary collections and letters of credit.

Key responsibilities

• Customize Trade products with Relationship and Branch Managers to grow income and the Trade Finance portfolio for individuals and SMEs.
• Maintain the existing client base and proactively acquire new business.
• Liaise with Trade Operations to process export documents presented for shipment (documentary collections and letters of credit).
• Ensure compliance with statutory and bank legal requirements in Trade Finance back and front office operations.
• Carry out regular market intelligence on trade products and pricing, and identify opportunities and threats to strengthen the Structured Trade & Commodity Financing business.
• Understand clients' businesses and anticipate their needs through consultative cross-selling, presenting tailored proposals.
• Follow up on solution implementation to minimize client inconvenience.
• Advise Relationship and Branch Managers on Trade Finance products and transactions, and help ensure agreed SLAs are met.
• Attend training programmes to stay aware of products and close skill gaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree as a minimum; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in the Trade Finance function.
• Experience in sales, preferably in a reputable bank and financial institution.

Required skills

• Knowledge of banking and functional policies and procedures.
• Relevant product knowledge and foundations of Islamic finance.
• Selling, communication and customer focus skills.
