About the role
The Boiler Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and qualification of all utility equipment within the plant, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, nitrogen plant, and related systems. The role ensures continuous utility supply, compliance with GMP standards, and supports plant improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out breakdown activities for utility equipment such as chilling plant, cooling tower, nitrogen plant, PWS, boilers, TFHS, and pumps.
- Attend to modification works, erection, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Prepare and execute equipment qualification and re‑qualification protocols and hand over reports to QA.
- Operate chilled water, chilled brine, cooling water, purified water, nitrogen gas plant, compressed air system, boiler & TFHS, recording parameters in log books.
- Maintain online documentation, update PM records, breakdown records, plant modification forms, cleaning and sanitation records, utility log books, equipment history cards, and cleaning schedules.
- Make indents for utility equipment spares and take measurements for contractor work (mechanical, civil, painting, HDPE).
- Check contractor bills and ensure continuous improvement activities across plants.
- Monitor housekeeping, update layout, schematic diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Plan energy‑conservation activities and ensure utilities meet user requirements.
- Coordinate with documentation team during audits and handle steam condensate recovery and hot‑water circulation systems.
- Monitor and rationalize water distribution, prepare training requirements, and revise SOPs for operation, maintenance, and cleaning.
- Handle GMP‑related software applications such as SAP, LMS, EDMS, and EDAMS.
Required profile
- Proven experience operating and maintaining utility equipment (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, nitrogen plant, etc.).
- Familiarity with equipment qualification and re‑qualification processes.
- Ability to prepare and manage detailed documentation and reports for QA.
- Experience coordinating with contractors and handling modification projects.
- Understanding of GMP requirements and related software tools.
Required skills

- Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Calibration of vessels and tanks.
- Documentation management (log books, SOPs, P&IDs).
