Business Development Lead – Global Funding (50-100%)

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Business Development Lead to drive the capture of high‑value funding opportunities ("Big Bids") that align with its mission of achieving Zero Hunger on a Healthy Planet. The role can be performed on a 50% or 100% basis and may be based in Kenya, Ethiopia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, or Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an operational vision and strategy for securing high‑value funding opportunities.
• Lead end‑to‑end bid processes, from ecosystem engagement and opportunity identification to concept development, submission, and post‑submission handover.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams across Welthungerhilfe and partner organisations to create compelling proposals.
• Monitor funding landscapes, identify strategic opportunities, and ensure alignment with the organisation’s identity, strategy, and capabilities.
• Strengthen internal readiness for growth, impact, innovation, and investment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, grant acquisition, or fundraising within the international development sector.
• Strong understanding of donor ecosystems and high‑value funding mechanisms.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strategic mindset with a results‑oriented approach.
