Business Development Manager - Insurance

About the role

Our client, a health/InsurTech company based in Nairobi, is seeking a Business Development Manager with a strong insurance background. Reporting to the CEO, the role will drive sales growth, develop new market opportunities, and lead a team of business development associates.

Key responsibilities

• Identify under‑performing products, deepen knowledge of offerings, pricing and policies, and improve sales proposals.
• Develop and maintain solid relationships with stakeholders and customers.
• Analyze customer feedback to gauge satisfaction with products and services.
• Recruit, train and guide business development staff.
• Provide insight for product development and competitive positioning.
• Analyze financial data to devise cost‑reduction strategies and achieve revenue targets.
• Conduct market research to uncover new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with executives to select cost‑effective approaches for new ventures.
• Manage marketing activities and present offerings to potential investors.
• Oversee communications and PR, ensuring smooth operation of social media, call centre, blogs and email campaigns.
• Establish contacts with donor agencies to attract funding.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of sales and marketing experience, preferably in the insurance or pharmaceutical sector.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., MSK or Chartered Institute of Marketing) are an advantage.
• Proven track record as a business development professional.
• Willingness to travel as required.
