About the role
The Clinical Instructor will bridge the gap between classroom theory and hands‑on patient care for nursing students. Reporting to the Head of Nursing School, you will supervise clinical rotations, mentor students, and ensure they meet required competency standards.
Key responsibilities
- Guide students during ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and community placements, providing bedside teaching in history‑taking, examinations, and procedures.
- Lead post‑round case debriefings to connect clinical findings with theoretical knowledge.
- Assess student performance, audit clinical logbooks, and oversee practical examinations such as OSCEs.
- Conduct simulation‑lab demonstrations and mock scenarios to build confidence before hospital placements.
- Model professional bedside manners, empathetic communication, and confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, and performance across rotations.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Minimum three years of experience in nursing education.
- Valid practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Required skills
- Deep knowledge of the NCK curriculum structure.
- Lesson planning for clinical education.
- OSCE administration and evaluation.
- Clinical simulation lab instruction.
