About the role
The Country Credit Head for Wealth & Retail Bank Risk in Kenya will safeguard the Group’s risk‑return decisions by ensuring retail credit risks are assessed, approved and controlled in line with Group standards and appetite.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end credit risk management for the Retail Banking portfolio, including oversight, controls and regulatory conduct.
- Design, maintain and communicate credit risk policies, exposure limits and control parameters to keep risk aligned with Group appetite.
- Supervise first‑line credit processes, ensure operational risk compliance and conduct stress‑testing and scenario analysis.
- Escalate material risk exposures and emerging issues to governance forums and committees.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, auditors and external stakeholders.
Required profile
- Senior credit risk leadership experience within Retail Banking, covering portfolio oversight, credit decisioning and risk appetite management.
- Proven people‑management track record, developing managers and specialists into future leaders.
- Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills with country, regional and Group leadership, regulators and governance bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to embed risk frameworks, operational controls and conduct standards.
- Relevant certifications such as CCRC, Risk Leaders Bootcamp and ACRM.
