Cyber Security Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to protect our network and systems in Kenya. The role involves monitoring security events, responding to incidents, and supporting vulnerability management to ensure a robust security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network traffic, system logs, endpoints and security alerts to detect threats and vulnerabilities.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, network intrusions, data breaches and other alerts.
• Review vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation and risk mitigation activities.
• Operate and maintain security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS and firewalls.
• Create and manage cybersecurity tickets, documentation, procedures and reports.
• Collaborate with IT and development teams on security operations, risk mitigation and system protection.
• Support compliance audits and communicate security best practices across teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience (4+ years).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and risk assessment abilities.
• Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS and firewall technologies.
• Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems and security technologies.
• Understanding of threat monitoring, incident response and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with cloud security platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP (nice to have).
• Awareness of security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI‑DSS) (nice to have).
• Scripting or automation using Python or PowerShell (nice to have).
• Security+, CEH or equivalent cybersecurity certification (nice to have).
