Deputy Chief Operating Officer

About the role

A leading security services provider in East Africa, represented by Summit Recruitment & Search, is looking for a highly analytical and strategic Deputy COO to support the Group CEO in driving operational excellence, business transformation and strategic execution. The ideal candidate comes from a strategy consulting or advisory background, with strong financial acumen, analytical rigor and structured problem-solving skills.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a strategic partner to the Group CEO in shaping and executing the company's strategic priorities.
• Monitor and evaluate operational performance across the business to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Lead initiatives to improve business processes, operational workflows and cost efficiency.
• Provide analytical insights and financial analysis to support business planning and operational decisions.
• Lead strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives as directed by the Group CEO.
• Work closely with senior management to align strategy and operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• Mandatory professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in Big 4 Advisory (Strategy, Deals Advisory, Performance Improvement or Consulting), or demonstrated experience advising organizations on strategy formulation and execution.
• An MBA is an added advantage; legal knowledge or experience with commercial contracts is also an added advantage.
