About the role
A student is sought to design and build a user‑friendly mobile application that enables community members and recreators to report sightings of non‑native or invasive plant species in the McDonald‑Dunn Research Forests. This role combines software development with environmental conservation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a mobile application for iOS and Android that allows users to log and submit observations of invasive plants.
- Design intuitive interfaces and ensure reliable data capture, storage, and transmission to the research team.
- Collaborate with ecologists and forest managers to define reporting requirements and incorporate feedback.
Required profile
- Current student (undergraduate or graduate) in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in environmental or ecological projects.
Required skills
- Mobile app development (iOS/Android) using appropriate frameworks.
