Electrician – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

CityBlue Hotels, a fast‑growing hotel chain in Kenya, is seeking a qualified Electrician to maintain, repair and troubleshoot all electrical systems across its properties. The role ensures guest safety, operational continuity and compliance with electrical standards while supporting the engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house spaces and outdoor facilities such as the pool.
• Replace faulty lighting fixtures, switches, sockets and circuit breakers throughout the property.
• Service hotel appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, kettles, toasters, laundry equipment) and kitchen equipment (ovens, griddles, exhaust systems, dishwashers).
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance, inspect distribution boards, wiring, earthing systems and backup power sources.
• Test and maintain emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, exit signs, generators, automatic transfer switches and UPS systems.
• Operate and maintain backup generators, perform weekly load tests, monitor fuel levels and conduct oil changes.
• Respond to guest‑room electrical complaints within agreed timeframes, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Maintain accurate logs of inspections, tests and maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Certified electrician with relevant qualifications.
• Experience in a hotel or similar hospitality environment is preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Professional demeanor and good communication when entering guest rooms.
• Team‑oriented attitude, collaborating with engineering, front‑desk and housekeeping teams.
