About the role
The Local Grill Kenya is seeking a dynamic Head Chef to lead its Nairobi kitchen. Reporting directly to management, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality dishes, maintaining our culinary vision, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Key responsibilities
- Design, update and innovate menus, balancing seasonality, cost, customer preferences and dietary trends.
- Oversee food preparation and plating, personally polishing each plate before service to uphold quality standards.
- Recruit, train and motivate sous chefs, line cooks and prep staff, fostering a high‑performance culture in a fast‑paced environment.
- Coordinate daily kitchen workflow, organize prep work and manage service flow during peak periods.
- Monitor food, portion and labour costs, negotiate with suppliers and maintain optimal stock levels.
- Enforce strict health and safety regulations, ensure proper food storage and compliance with all relevant standards.
- Supervise maintenance of kitchen equipment, guaranteeing all tools are functional and safe.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen experience.
- Strong people skills, excellent communication and proven leadership abilities.
- Passion for creating sensational dishes and a willingness to learn and grow.
- Experience with Italian cuisine is highly valued.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
