Finance and Contracts Officer – EU Delegation Kenya

About the role

The Finance and Contracts Officer will join the Regional Partnerships Unit of the EU Delegation in Nairobi, supporting the Global Gateway team that covers education, health, agriculture and food security. This is a fixed‑term position of two years, with a 37.5‑hour flexible work week.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and manage the financial aspects of contracts, grants and procurement procedures, ensuring compliance with EU rules.
• Draft financial sections of contracts, addenda, payment orders and related documents, and provide advice on budgeting matters.
• Monitor performance of financial operations, identify risks, and propose corrective actions to the Team Leader.
• Support tender preparation, evaluation and secretariat functions, and ensure proper archiving of programme documents.
• Follow up audit recommendations, prepare financial reports and contribute to KPI monitoring.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum three years) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Law.
• At least five years of post‑graduate experience in financial management, procurement or audit, preferably within an international organisation or development cooperation context.
• Proficiency in English at C2 level.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• ERP/financial management systems for budgeting and accounting.
• Office automation tools: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
