Finance Intern

About the role

Save the Children Kenya is seeking a Finance Intern to support its finance team in day‑to‑day accounting and treasury activities. This position offers hands‑on experience in a large humanitarian organization operating across multiple regions of Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile invoices on the ProSave platform, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
• Prepare and authorise Mpesa payment vouchers and upload manual payments for approval.
• Maintain filing and archiving processes, backing up finance documents in the Document Management System (DMS).
• Prepare General Ledger and Cash Offline Spreadsheets (GLACOS) with correct charge codes.
• Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and payroll statutory deductions.
• Perform weekly single‑account/balance‑sheet reconciliations and prepare review schedules.
• Create adjustment and reallocation journal entries.
• Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with Save the Children policies.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a finance, accounting or related degree program (implicit for an internship).
• Detail‑oriented with strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
