Finance Senior Accountant

About the role

Tropical Heat Ltd is seeking a Finance Senior Accountant to lead accounting operations across its multiple business units in Nairobi. The role combines day‑to‑day accounting management with strategic financial analysis, supporting both the commercial and manufacturing sides of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting activities across all business units.
• Manage the monthly closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Lead reconciliations for banks, debtors, creditors, inventory and inter‑company accounts.
• Strengthen working‑capital controls, including debtors, creditors and stock management.
• Ensure statutory compliance for VAT, PAYE and corporate tax.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Maintain rigorous cost‑accounting discipline within manufacturing.
• Improve finance processes, controls and documentation.
• Partner with operations, supply chain and sales to guarantee financial accuracy.
• Assist automation initiatives and system improvements.
• Provide commercial support on margins, pricing, trade spend and joint business planning.
• Collaborate with sales on credit control, customer limits and collection performance.

Required profile

• Fully qualified ACCA or CPA(K).
• 5–8+ years of accounting experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of stock, cost of production and margin analysis.
• Experience handling high transaction volumes.
• Excellent reconciliation and control mindset.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, growth‑focused environment.
• High integrity, strong attention to detail, structured and disciplined.
• Calm under pressure, proactive problem‑solver and commercially aware.
• Team player who supports leadership.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
• Experience with Sage Pastel ERP or similar accounting platforms.
• Strong technology and software aptitude.
