Head of Business Development - Corporate Staffing Services

About the role

Afia Concept Claims Settling Agency (ACS) is hiring a Head of Business Development for its corporate staffing services, a full-time on-site management position in Nairobi. The role drives business growth by acquiring and retaining corporate clients, medical schemes, insurance partners and strategic healthcare stakeholders, and leads the development and execution of business development strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement business development strategies, identify new opportunities in healthcare, insurance and managed care, and monitor market trends and competitors.
• Build a robust sales pipeline, lead proposal development, presentations, negotiations and contract discussions, and support client onboarding.
• Develop client retention strategies, conduct regular business reviews with key clients, and work with Client Success, Medical, Claims and Provider Management teams to ensure excellent service.
• Build relationships with insurers, medical schemes, brokers and corporates, and represent the organisation at industry engagements.
• Identify and evaluate tenders, lead RFP and EOI responses, track outcomes and improve win rates.
• Lead the Business Development team, set objectives and targets, monitor performance and foster a high-performance, client-centric culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Insurance, Healthcare Management, Public Relations or a related field; an MBA or Master's is an added advantage.
• Professional qualifications in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, CRM or Project Management are an added advantage.
• At least 8 years' progressive experience in business development, sales, account management, healthcare, insurance, managed care or a related commercial environment.
• At least 3 years' experience in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in client acquisition, contract negotiations, tender management and strategic partnerships; TPA, health insurance or medical scheme administration experience is highly desirable.
