Head of Collections - Strategy, Transformation & Performance

About the role

FairMoney is seeking a senior leader to own and transform its collections function across short‑term cash optimisation, mid‑term recovery improvement and long‑term customer behaviour change. The role will be based in Nigeria and requires full relocation or regular on‑site presence.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end ownership of cash collected, arrears, roll‑rates, PAR/NPL and recovery economics.
• Design and execute a multi‑horizon collections strategy, including segmentation‑driven treatment and incentive‑based interventions.
• Introduce experimentation frameworks and ROI‑driven rollouts to test and scale collection tactics.
• Use data and partner with Risk and Data Science to optimise roll‑rates, measure treatment effectiveness and report transparent, decision‑ready metrics.
• Build a high‑calibre leadership bench, develop leaders, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Influence product, risk, tech and CX teams, challenge policies that harm recoveries, and represent collections at senior leadership forums.
• Improve collections outcomes while preserving long‑term customer value and reducing escalations through system fixes.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in collections, credit risk or recovery within a fintech or banking environment.
• Strong track record of designing and executing data‑driven strategies that improve cash flow and reduce non‑performing loans.
• Ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders and drive change at the executive level.
• Demonstrated capability to build and mentor high‑performing teams.
