Head of Credit & FOSA

About the role

The Head of Credit & FOSA will lead credit, savings, FOSA operations and debt recovery for a SACCO. The role ensures consistent credit policy application, optimises income and reduces bad debt while managing efficient cash operations.

Key responsibilities

• Build and develop a high‑performing team, set performance objectives and provide regular feedback.
• Develop and enforce policies, procedures and legislation; manage relationships with other departments and stakeholders.
• Oversee loan approval processes, allocate loan funds across branches and ensure proper loan documentation.
• Guide the credit committee, prepare monthly credit performance reports and coordinate committee meetings.
• Develop growth strategies for the FOSA business, work with Business Development on market research and adjust product mix.
• Prepare the department’s annual budget and support procurement budgeting.

Required profile

• Minimum eight years’ experience in a financial institution, with at least four years in a senior management position.
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA (Kenya) and membership in a relevant professional body.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial and credit risk.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and remediation management skills.
• Planning, organisation and commercial awareness.
