HR Cell Manager (W/M) – Nairobi

About the role

The HR Cell Manager will lead the operational implementation of human‑resources activities for Médecins Sans Frontières’ Cell 6 missions in South Sudan, Kenya and Chad. Based in Nairobi, the role provides hands‑on HR support to field HR Coordinators (HRCOs) while acting as a strategic partner to the Cell HR Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Cell‑level HR policies and procedures across the three missions.
• Provide direct, day‑to‑day HR support to HRCOs, including weekly one‑on‑one meetings and problem‑solving.
• Collaborate with the Pool Management Unit, Travel, Movement and Departure Unit, GRH/Field Administration, Learning & Development, and Human Resources Operations.
• Contribute to strategic dossiers on duty of care, gender equality and diversity.
• Act as the primary filter for strategic issues arising from field engagement and propose joint resolutions.
• Serve as backup to the Cell HR Coordinator and cover HRCO responsibilities when needed to ensure continuity.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR management within an international or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work hands‑on with mission teams while maintaining strategic oversight.
• Strong judgment in balancing support with mission autonomy.
• Experience coordinating with multiple internal units and external partners.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
