ICT Security Officer – Nairobi

About the role

The ICT Security Officer will safeguard the Union’s ICT environment and protect the integrity of its financial systems. Reporting to the ICT Manager, the role focuses on implementing robust security frameworks, detecting threats, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, detect and respond to security incidents; conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
• Implement and enforce security controls, policies and procedures; ensure compliance with data protection laws and SACCO regulations.
• Perform access‑control audits, deliver cybersecurity awareness training and maintain business continuity and disaster‑recovery plans.
• Support ICT operations, including core banking, mobile banking and social media platforms; liaise with vendors for system integrations.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and contribute to ICT strategy and improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science or related field.
• At least one professional certification (CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, CISM or CISA) – mandatory.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in information security or ICT support, preferably in financial services or SACCO sector.
• High integrity, strong analytical skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
