About the role
The Information Technology Intern will provide first‑line (L1) technical support to Save the Children staff in Kenya and Madagascar. Working under the guidance of the IT Officer, the intern will help maintain a reliable IT environment across office and field locations.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests, logging incidents in JIRA.
- Assist the IT Officer with the rollout of local IT projects and installations.
- Deliver day‑to‑day end‑user support for computers, applications, scanners, projectors and network equipment.
- Prepare training materials and conduct basic user training on hardware and software.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of desktops, laptops and peripheral devices.
- Cover for the IT Officer during absences and ensure continuity of service.
- Maintain accurate incident logs and escalate critical issues to the IT Officer.
- Configure and support mobile data devices and ensure regular data backups.
- Assist in analysing, designing and developing simple web or mobile applications as required.
Required profile
- Enrolled in a relevant IT, Computer Science or related degree program.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow established procedures.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with staff across multiple locations.
Required skills
- Experience with JIRA ticketing system.
- Hardware troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, scanners and projectors.
- Basic network equipment maintenance.
- Mobile device configuration and support.
- Data backup and security practices.
- Fundamental knowledge of web or mobile application development.
