IT Support Intern

About the role

The IT Support Intern will work under the guidance of the IT Officer to deliver first‑line technical assistance to Save the Children staff in Kenya and Madagascar. This role offers hands‑on experience with a range of hardware, software and network tools in a humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Log and manage IT support requests in JIRA for Kenya & Madagascar staff.
• Provide day‑to‑day assistance on computers, laptops, scanners, projectors and network equipment.
• Install, configure and maintain desktop machines and mobile data devices.
• Create and deliver training materials on hardware and software usage.
• Perform routine data backups and ensure data security.
• Escalate major hardware or software issues to vendors or senior IT staff.
• Cover for the IT Officer during absences and assist with local IT project roll‑outs.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a relevant IT or Computer Science program.
• Strong interest in providing technical support and learning new technologies.
• Good communication skills to assist end users in English.

Required skills

• Familiarity with JIRA or similar ticketing systems.
• Basic knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware, printers, scanners and network equipment.
• Understanding of data backup procedures.
