IT Software Specialist – Hospital Information Systems

About the role

The IT/Software Specialist will manage, support, secure and continuously improve the organization’s information technology infrastructure and software systems, ensuring reliable operation of the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) across all branches.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support the Hospital Information Management System, including user accounts, workflows, and module configuration.
• Provide technical support to employees and branches, maintaining hardware, software, and help‑desk processes.
• Maintain local area networks, internet connectivity, Wi‑Fi, servers, cloud services, databases and ICT assets.
• Implement cybersecurity controls, monitor threats, and ensure compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act and health‑sector regulations.
• Develop and test backup, recovery and business‑continuity procedures to meet approved recovery timelines.
• Generate operational, clinical, financial and regulatory reports from HIMS and support data‑quality initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendors, monitor service‑level agreements and participate in ICT projects, upgrades and system migrations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least three years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated experience administering HIMS, ERP, EMR or similar enterprise software.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with high integrity and confidentiality.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage projects and support multiple branches.
