Leaf Officer

About the role

The Leaf Officer will oversee the entire tobacco leaf production cycle in the Westlands area, from farmer contracting to market delivery. You will work closely with the Area Leaf Manager to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective leaf output while supporting farmer livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and obtain approval for crop plans, ensuring alignment with quality, quantity, and cost targets.
• Monitor and report progress on action plans to the Area Leaf Manager for timely decision‑making.
• Provide technical guidance to extension contractors and farmers to maximise leaf quality and yields.
• Supervise farmer loans, ensuring repayment risk is minimised while meeting production goals.
• Evaluate competitor activity and implement proactive measures to maintain competitive advantage.
• Ensure compliance with company policies (EH&S, afforestation, procurement, IT, accounting, etc.).
• Identify community development projects, coordinate with local leaders, and oversee implementation.
• Continuously assess supervision practices and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 month of relevant experience in agricultural or leaf production management.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to train, motivate and supervise staff and contractors.
• Good understanding of risk management and loan supervision.
