Assistant Manager – Self Propelled Harvester Operations

About the role

The Assistant Manager will oversee the planning, deployment and maintenance of Self‑Propelled Harvesters (SPH) to ensure high reliability, availability and safety during critical harvesting periods. The role also supports other mechanised field activities and coordinates with multiple departments to optimise resources.

Key responsibilities

• Execute work plans and operational procedures to maximise SPH efficiency and timely harvesting of Greenleaf.
• Plan and schedule daily deployment of SPH and other agricultural machinery.
• Maintain performance logs, fuel use records and analyse data for cost‑benefit reporting.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance (PPM) and service calls, reducing breakdowns and downtime.
• Order spares and consumables in liaison with Stores, Fleet and Procurement managers.
• Allocate operators and mechanics, monitor fleet utilisation, productivity and fuel consumption.
• Identify skill gaps and organise training programmes for mechanics and operators.
• Enforce safety standards, ground unsafe equipment and authorise return to service.

Required profile

• Degree in Agricultural, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• More than 5 years’ experience in fleet or plant maintenance within a busy agricultural or commercial setting.
• Hands‑on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Leadership or supervisory training and occupational safety knowledge are an advantage.
