Programme Analyst – Women’s Economic Empowerment

About the role

The Programme Analyst will support UN Women’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) agenda in East and Southern Africa, focusing on linking women to the world of work, gender‑responsive procurement and entrepreneurship. Reporting to the Regional Policy Specialist and matrix‑reporting to the Country Representative in Sudan, the analyst will generate evidence, facilitate South‑South knowledge exchange and strengthen partnerships with the African Development Bank and other IFIs.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies and design of proposals on women’s economic empowerment across the ESA region.
• Coordinate the preparation, submission and monitoring of AfDB and other IFI proposals, concept notes and calls for proposals.
• Provide technical support for implementation, results‑based management, budgeting and reporting of WEE projects.
• Develop background documents, briefs, advocacy materials and knowledge‑management products; organise trainings, workshops and events.
• Support resource mobilisation, partnership building and inter‑agency coordination to mainstream gender‑responsive approaches.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, gender studies, international development, economics or a related field.
• Core UN Women competencies: integrity, professionalism, respect for diversity, gender‑sensitivity, accountability and inclusive collaboration.
• Experience in programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in gender or economic development contexts.
