Learning and Development Manager

About the role

Optica is looking for an experienced Learning and Development Manager to lead its training function. You will design, deliver and continuously improve programs that boost the performance of optometrists, sales staff and back‑office teams across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee training initiatives across all operating countries, ensuring consistent high‑quality standards.
• Manage onboarding and certification programmes for new optometrists and sales personnel.
• Design and deliver ongoing learning modules, e‑learning courses, manuals and presentations for existing staff.
• Provide managerial and skills training support to back‑office departments.
• Analyse performance data to evaluate training effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
• Prepare and present regular training reports for senior management.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate the L&D team, setting clear goals aligned with business objectives.
• Participate in interview panels for optometrist and sales hires.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (any discipline).
• Minimum 6 years of training experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a training department.
• Proven experience designing and delivering learning programmes in a retail or healthcare setting.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
