Litigation Advocate – Nairobi

About the role

The Litigation Advocate will join a leading Kenyan law firm in Nairobi, providing high‑quality legal services across civil and commercial matters. Reporting to senior partners, the role involves case analysis, strategy development, and representation in court and arbitral forums.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse case files, develop litigation strategies and identify procedural rules for various courts and arbitral bodies.
• Draft, review and file pleadings, notices, affidavits, and other litigation documents.
• Provide legal opinions and advice on civil and commercial litigation issues.
• Consult with clients and counsel, stay updated on new legislation, and attend hearings at High Court and Magistrates’ Courts.
• Conduct negotiations to settle potential disputes and pursue revenue targets.
• Manage case files, maintain electronic time‑keeping, and support the administration of the practice.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission to the Kenyan Bar.
• Minimum of 1 month of relevant litigation experience (junior level).
• High integrity, self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships.

Required skills

• Legal research and case analysis.
• Drafting of litigation documents (pleadings, affidavits, notices).
• Knowledge of Kenyan civil and commercial procedural rules.
• Negotiation and client consultation.
