Medical Director (Head of Medical Services)

About the role

The Medical Director (Head of Medical Services) will provide overall clinical leadership for a multi‑disciplinary hospital, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centred care across all service lines. This full‑time position reports to senior management and works closely with administrative teams to align clinical operations with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all clinical departments, including Outpatient, Inpatient, Maternity, Theatre, and Laboratory services.
• Develop, implement, and continuously review clinical policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks to ensure patient safety and quality.
• Supervise Medical Officers, Specialists, Clinical Officers, and Nursing teams; conduct performance appraisals and support professional development.
• Drive infection prevention and control programs, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation compliance.
• Manage patient experience, address complaints, and implement strategies to improve satisfaction and outcomes.
• Participate in budgeting, resource allocation, inventory management, and procurement planning for clinical supplies.
• Ensure all staff maintain valid licenses and comply with national regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with appropriate licensing and board certification.
• Minimum five years of senior clinical leadership experience in a hospital setting.
• Proven track record in clinical governance, quality assurance, and multidisciplinary team management.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and budgetary processes.
