MHPSS Workforce Development Consultant – Child Protection (12 months)

About the role
This assignment aims to strengthen UNICEF’s global MHPSS workforce and improve access to quality mental health and psychosocial support for children, adolescents, caregivers and communities. The consultant will provide technical assistance to country offices and partners to design, adapt, implement and scale competency‑based approaches to training, supervision, assessment and quality assurance. The work will also strengthen country‑level systems and provider capacity, supporting sustainable, safe and effective MHPSS services across both humanitarian and development settings.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to country offices and partners to design, adapt, implement and scale competency‑based training, supervision, assessment and quality‑assurance approaches for MHPSS.
- Strengthen country‑level systems and provider capacity to deliver sustainable, safe and effective MHPSS services in humanitarian and development contexts.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, or Child Protection in humanitarian action.
- Minimum 10 years experience in MHPSS within development and humanitarian settings, including work with UN agencies, NGOs, academic institutions and governments.
- Experience developing MHPSS monitoring, evaluation and measurement tools and advising governments on competency‑based supervision and training.
- Fluency in English, French and Spanish; knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.
Required skills
- Expert knowledge of the EQUIP platform, resources and tools.
- Strong knowledge of competency frameworks and competency‑based assessment, training and supervision in MHPSS for child protection.
- Proficiency in developing and applying MHPSS monitoring and evaluation tools.
