Plant Operator

About the role

The Plant Operator will manage the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment in an agriculture and mining environment. This on‑site role requires real‑time monitoring, routine maintenance, and strict adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery, processing units, crushers, boilers and water‑treatment equipment.
• Monitor gauges, flow meters, pressure panels and control systems, recording all operational parameters.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and minor repairs.
• Conduct quality checks on production parameters and effluent samples.
• Follow OSHA safety protocols, use appropriate PPE and maintain a hazard‑free workspace.
• Identify mechanical faults early and report critical issues to maintenance technicians or supervisors.

Required profile

• Minimum KCSE grade D (or equivalent) and a Diploma or Craft Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical/Plant, Chemical/Process Engineering or Plant Operation from a TVETA‑accredited institute.
• National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) competency certificate in Plant Operation or related trade.
• 1–3 years hands‑on experience operating industrial plant equipment, boilers, turbines or processing lines.
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate and national ID or passport.
