Machine Tool Operator – Lathe, Milling & Drilling

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Machine Tool Operator to join our manufacturing team in Kisumu. The role involves operating lathe, milling and drilling machines to produce and repair mechanical parts for plant equipment. You will work closely with the electrical maintenance team during breakdowns and plant shutdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Operate conventional lathe machines for turning, threading and shaping metal components.
• Run milling machines for cutting, slotting, shaping and precision machining.
• Use drilling machines for accurate drilling, boring and tapping operations.
• Fabricate spare parts for motors, conveyors, gearboxes and other plant equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using vernier calipers, micrometers and other precision tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machine tools and ensure safety standards.
• Maintain documentation of fabricated components and repairs.

Required profile

• Diploma or Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology or Machining Technology.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating lathe, milling and drilling machines in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good knowledge of machine tool safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
