Rice Mill Operator

About the role

The Rice Plant Operator is an active, on‑the‑floor operational role responsible for daily execution, physical management, and mechanical upkeep of LBDA's modern rice milling facility. Working directly on the plant floor, you will run the processing line from end to end—setting up equipment, monitoring grain flow, identifying mechanical faults early, and conducting first‑line preventative maintenance to keep operations moving efficiently with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, run, and actively monitor commercial rice milling machinery across all stages, including pre‑cleaners, de‑huskers, paddy separators, polishers, thickness graders, and color sorters.
• Continuously observe production lines to detect early signs of mechanical failure, abnormal vibrations, unusual noises, belt slippage, overheating, or blockages.
• Perform hands‑on preventative maintenance and minor technical repairs such as lubricating bearings, adjusting belt tension, clearing blockages, and replacing worn screens or rubber rollers.
• Conduct regular physical sampling during runs to test moisture levels, broken grain percentages, and polish levels, fine‑tuning machine calibrations to maximize head rice recovery.
• Monitor raw paddy input rates and packaged output to maintain an even, continuous processing pace across shifts.
• Enforce strict occupational health, safety, and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean, hazard‑free production floor.

Required profile

• 2+ years of direct operational experience running industrial food processing plant equipment or commercial rice milling machinery.
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting ability, diagnosing equipment issues by sound, sight, and performance changes during live production.
• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or a relevant industrial trade qualification.
• Physical fitness to work on feet for extended shifts, maneuver around active machinery, and handle equipment parts.
• Sharp attention to detail on product quality variations, machine settings, and safety protocols.
