Programme Management Officer (P3) – Nairobi

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer at the P3 level to lead and coordinate interdisciplinary programmes that link health, biodiversity, climate and pollution. Based in Nairobi, the officer will work closely with UN agencies, governments and partners to advance One Health initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor programmes addressing the nexus of environment and health.
• Coordinate inter‑agency initiatives and ensure alignment with UNEP strategic objectives.
• Lead data‑driven analysis, reporting and knowledge‑management activities.
• Develop project proposals, budgets and performance indicators.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement in developing countries and support capacity‑building efforts.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Public Health, Interdisciplinary Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in programme management within One Health, biodiversity, climate or pollution‑linked health.
• At least two years of experience working in developing countries and in United Nations or other international organisations.
• Experience with international inter‑agency health‑environment initiatives is desirable.

Required skills

• Data analytics, business analytics or data science knowledge (as demonstrated through relevant coursework or training).
