Project Manager – Fixed-Term (Engineering)

About the role

Safaricom is seeking an experienced Project Manager on a fixed‑term basis to lead large‑scale mechanical and electrical (M&E) construction projects in Nairobi. You will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor M&E engineering projects from design through handover.
• Manage contracts, procurement, and subcontractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with international and Kenyan construction codes.
• Prepare progress reports, cost forecasts, and risk assessments.
• Lead stakeholder communication and facilitate decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Professional Engineer status.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in M&E engineering and project management.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale construction projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Tekla Structures, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, Prokon, SAFE
• Primavera P6, MS Project, Asana, Trello
• Power BI, Tableau, MS Excel
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS, ACI, ASTM, Kenya Building Code
• Familiarity with sustainability practices and ISO standards in construction
