Release of Information Lead (ROI Team Lead)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Lead oversees the ROI team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medical information requests. Reporting to the ROI Supervisor, the role coordinates workflow, supports staff, and maintains compliance with HIPAA and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear direction, set associate goals, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Receive, evaluate, and process written medical information requests from multiple channels.
• Interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations to determine appropriate releases.
• Supervise ROI Generalists I and II, including training, mentorship, and performance monitoring.
• Generate metric reports and support quality measurement tasks.
• Handle inbound/outbound calls and respond to status inquiries.
• Operate and troubleshoot office equipment to maintain workflow.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED (RHIT preferred).
• At least 2 years of HIM‑related experience and 1 year of ROI experience.
• Customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass background, credit, drug, and motor‑vehicle checks.

Required skills

• 10‑key data entry proficiency.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• General computer and office equipment proficiency.
