Root Developer (Entry Level)

About the role

The Root Developer will join our software team in Nairobi to design, develop, test and maintain applications that meet business and user needs. This is an entry‑level position suitable for recent graduates who are eager to build a solid foundation in software engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy software applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
• Participate in system design and code reviews.
• Integrate applications with APIs and databases.
• Collaborate with designers, analysts and other developers.
• Maintain technical documentation.
• Ensure software security, performance and reliability.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with version‑control systems, preferably Git.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, JavaScript or PHP).
• Knowledge of database concepts and SQL.
• Experience with Git or similar version‑control tools.
