Senior Accountant – Agricultural Inputs Distribution

About the role

The client is a Kenyan distributor of specialty fertilizers and plant‑nutrition products. They seek a Senior Accountant to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial records, and support timely reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Accounts Receivable, monitor ageing, manage collections, set credit limits and reduce Days Sales Outstanding.
• Maintain the General Ledger, post journal entries, and perform monthly bank, customer, supplier, inter‑company and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Process supplier invoices, manage Accounts Payable, and resolve supplier balance issues.
• Review inventory reconciliations, investigate variances and support periodic stock counts.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, analyse performance, and produce variance explanations.
• Compile schedules for VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE and other statutory returns; perform ETIMS/TIMS reconciliations.
• Assist internal and external auditors and ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accountant with proven experience in full‑cycle accounting.
• Strong knowledge of credit management, statutory compliance and internal control frameworks.
• Ability to produce accurate financial reports and support audit processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an ERP accounting system.
• General Ledger management and journal entry preparation.
• Accounts receivable and payable processing.
• VAT, withholding tax and payroll tax compliance.
• ETIMS/TIMS reconciliation to the General Ledger.
