Senior Business Development Manager – East Africa

About the role

The Nairobi Overseas Centre of Enterprise Singapore is seeking a (Senior) Business Development Manager to support the Regional Director in expanding Singaporean enterprise opportunities across East Africa. The role focuses on building partnerships, facilitating market entry, and strengthening bilateral trade ties.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop business opportunities for Singapore‑based companies in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Burundi, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.
• Build and nurture partnerships with government agencies, private sector firms and civil‑society organisations to improve market access.
• Organise marketing trips, business missions and events that showcase Singaporean capabilities.
• Generate market intelligence, develop sector strategies and create qualified leads.
• Promote and deepen bilateral trade relations between Singapore and East African markets.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Regional Director or Enterprise Singapore headquarters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
• Minimum 5 years experience in international trade, investment promotion, business development, market analysis, marketing or banking.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multi‑site, multicultural teams.
• Willingness to travel frequently and meet strict, fast‑paced timelines.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and a commitment to continuous learning.
