Social & Behavior Change Specialist (P-3) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Social & Behavior Change Specialist will join UNICEF’s Global Programme Division (WASH) in Nairobi, supporting emergency preparedness and response across multiple countries. Working within the High Impact Solutions Team, the incumbent will help design and implement risk communication, community engagement and accountability approaches to prevent disease outbreaks and protect vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to Country Offices and partners on Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) during emergencies.
• Develop and share knowledge products, guidelines and tools to strengthen emergency response in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) contexts.
• Facilitate capacity‑building workshops and trainings for government and non‑government stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the High Impact Solutions Team to translate global strategies into practical, field‑ready solutions.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of RCCE and AAP interventions, ensuring lessons learned inform future programming.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, communication, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in behavior change, risk communication, or emergency response, preferably in WASH or humanitarian settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi‑sectoral partners and government agencies.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills, with fluency in English.
