Software Developer (Internship)

About the role

Oracle Tech is looking for a motivated Software Developer intern to join its Nairobi team. You will contribute to designing, building, and maintaining modern applications while gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced IT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code based on technical specifications.
• Design software components, application logic, and database schemas.
• Develop and integrate RESTful or GraphQL APIs and work with micro‑services architectures.
• Create unit and integration tests, debug runtime issues, and conduct code reviews.
• Upgrade legacy applications, migrate to cloud environments, and maintain technical documentation.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one core language such as Go, Kotlin, Python, Java or C#.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL caches (Redis, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns.
