Technical Expert – Payment Authorization Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Expert to lead payment authorization optimization for our issuing clients, focusing on improving Card‑Not‑Present (CNP) approval rates. The role involves analysing decline trends, implementing optimization strategies, and providing end‑to‑end technical support to issuers, acquirers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse authorization decline trends and identify actionable opportunities to improve CNP approval rates.
• Partner with issuing banks and acquirers to implement authorization optimization strategies.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for deployment and approval optimisation initiatives.
• Coordinate onboarding, technical support requests and project execution across multiple stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, technical incidents and deployment milestones, providing regular status updates.
• Lead client review meetings to discuss ongoing projects, technical issues and optimisation outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal technical, operational and business teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Drive operational excellence and ensure timely resolution of technical issues impacting payment approvals.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in card payments, payment gateways, acquiring, issuer processing or technical payment delivery.
• Strong understanding of payment authorization flows, CNP transactions and digital commerce.
• Hands‑on experience with merchant integrations, payment processing and transaction lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of authorization decline codes, fraud controls and payment optimisation techniques.
• Proven ability to support issuers in improving authorization performance and customer experience.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong project and stakeholder management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
