Accountability & Compliance Investigations Specialist

About the role

The Accountability & Compliance Investigations Specialist will strengthen MSF’s accountability and integrity frameworks across programmes in Kenya. Working closely with programme teams, the specialist will conduct audits, monitor compliance, and support investigations into fraud, corruption and other misconduct.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute thematic or comprehensive accountability audits covering community engagement, decision‑making and resource allocation.
• Perform regular risk assessments and provide real‑time advisory support to offices and programme coordination teams.
• Maintain the Risk and Compliance Register, prepare compliance gap reports and track corrective action plans.
• Conduct impartial investigations into allegations of fraud, financial misconduct and protocol breaches, gathering and analysing financial records and transactional data.
• Collaborate with forensic experts and legal advisors, ensuring confidentiality and proper case ownership.
• Coordinate with Safeguarding to differentiate behavioural cases from integrity/fraud cases and follow up on high‑risk findings.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CA, CIA or CFE.
• Experience working in Eastern Africa or similarly complex operational environments is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of audit methodology, risk assessment and compliance monitoring.
