Accountant – Finance & Accounting Position

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Accountant to join our finance team in Nairobi’s Westlands district. The role involves managing day‑to‑day financial operations for a hospitality‑focused organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Kenyan regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting books.
• Process daily transactions, including receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank accounts, cash books, and supplier statements.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collection.
• Calculate and remit statutory deductions such as PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF/SHIF.
• Prepare payroll and maintain employee payroll records.
• Monitor budgets, perform variance analysis, and support financial forecasting.
• Conduct stock reconciliation and assist with inventory management.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities during audits.
• Implement internal financial controls and prepare management reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• CPA(K) finalist or qualified CPA(K) preferred.
• Minimum three years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in retail, hospitality, veterinary services, or FMCG is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Zoho Books.
